Procurement Code Violation Training
Successful Completion of SPD’s Procurement Code Overview class will satisfy the requirement for Procurement Code Violations.
Training Classes
Classes may be scheduled upon request by contacting the instructor (minimum class sizes apply). If an in-person class is requested by a State agency or local public body, outside of the Santa Fe area, the requesting entity must pay all per diem and travel expenses of the State Purchasing Division staff member who conducts the class.

Request for Proposals (RFP)
Class Summary: This class is an intensive lecture and exercise-based class designed to teach students how to manage an RFP procurement from inception to completion of the protest period. This class is detailed in nature and addresses specific day-to-day operating procedures necessary to manage an RFP procurement to a successful completion. Following an RFP procurement roughly chronologically, the class includes developing the initial requirements, developing the RFP document itself (with specific focus on the requirements and evaluation criteria), issuing the RFP, managing proposals received, evaluating proposals received, awarding the contract(s), managing the protest process and properly documenting everything to comply with all legal and practical requirements.
Duration: 3 consecutive days (8:30am – 4:30pm)
Intended Audience: State agency and local public body personnel who will be either managing or directly involved with an RFP procurement.

Procurement Code Overview (formerly Procurement 101)
Class Summary: This class is designed to give a high-level overview of the NM Procurement Code and how it must be applied. The class is general in nature and does not specifically address day-to-day operating procedures. Included are to whom and what the code applies, the different procurement methods (including ITBs, RFPs, Sole Sources, etc.) as well as the processing of vendor responses and protests.
Duration: 1 full day (8:30am – 4:30pm)
Intended Audience: All State agency and local public body personnel
Minimum Class Size: 10 people
Maximum Class Size: 50 people

Procurement Overview for Elected Officials
Class Summary: This class is not a regularly scheduled class, but is scheduled only upon request. It is designed to give a short and very high-level introductory overview of the government procurement process and NM Procurement Code to elected officials. Attendance preference is given to newly elected government officials. The class is very general in nature and does not address day-to-day operating procedures. Included is the background of the Procurement Code, the intent of the code, who the code applies to, how it must be applied, the different procurement methods (including ITBs, RFPs, Sole Sources and Emergency procurements) as well as handling of vendor responses and protests.
Duration: 2 hours (or as requested)
